Aramà On the Making Of “Luz e Sombras”

Can you share any interesting or unique stories or perspectives in 'Luz e Sombras?'

Luz e sombras was born from the need to find inspiration during the darkest period I've ever been through .. during the covid 19 pandemic. I needed to understand why we were all going through this period of darkness... It's in the shadows that you can go back up and look for the light. So I did.. and you can listen to the result ❤️

Which song do you like the best and why?

I think the song Oya... I feel it particularly ... it is dedicated to my head orixás, in the Afro-Brazilian tradition, Umbanda religion I am the daughter of iansa, Oya in Yoruba, queen of winds and storms.
Iansa is presented in Brazilian terreiros between dance and fight.
her steps are guided by the sway of the breeze she controls. Oya is the lightest among the orixás, when dancing she puts her hands behind her, at hip height, while moving through space quickly and perceptively, remembering the strength and power of storms. Evidencing the war, the steps used in the choreographies for Iansã simulate the movement of fights and battles. I'm a real warrior in life .. so this song really speaks about me, about my conception of love and life.

What did you enjoy most about making 'Luz e Sombras?'

I enjoyed só much performing the videoclip of Pandora and the visualizer of Medusa! Was in the pandemic period .. and really doing art in this period was for me very important to escape a bit from all that sad situation .

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

I started with dance, the classic story of a little girl who is taken by her mother to a dance school. at the age of 13 I was already dancing all over Europe .. then at 17 they found me a beautiful voice by chance, and I started making musicals and also studying theater. and then a trip to Brazil changed my life and everything started from there.. i met a lot of musicians and my music was born from these encounters.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they impacted your own sound?

I was born listening to bossa nova because my dad loves it very much. I've always been attracted to Caribbean, African, etc. rhythms. I listen to a lot of soul music, pop, r&b. everything influences me, just a dream, or a conversation with a friend who contributes to my inspiration. surely my travels have helped me a lot. I haven't been to Asia yet, I Hope will be my next destination .. !! sometimes just perfume is enough .. I remember on the beach of Itapoa in Salvador Bahia when I wrote my first song inebriated by the scent of jasmine flowers! when I was 6 I drew flowers and tropical plants and I knew all the Latin names of the plants. I've always liked the idea of an exotic paradise. And now I laugh a little because I live between Italy and Brazil .. it was my destiny ...
