AUTiSM ‘Neverberator’

Autism invented the techniques and sounds in Neverberator more than two decades ago. And before 2023 Omninorm Records made the album available to the public, the record was only offered as a limited CD. Like a time capsule being reinvented as a continued/new time capsule, Neverberator is like a time machine that gazes into the past with the aesthetic of the present and the reflection of the future. An album that exceeds the law of time.

The law of time isn’t the only thing bent by Vadim Militsin, the mastermind behind the music project Autism. Genres, sounds, and cultural influences all received a round of reinvention in Neverberator. 20 years ago, the record was innovative and ahead of its time. And it continues to stay true today. Even now, the methods and approaches Autism experiments in relation to collective memories, eras, and modernity are something that’s simply not seen in the music world. Most records only get a slight improvement, but Neverberator steps into the new century, bending new rules to its own sonic reality.

Sonically, the record roughly resembles a huge alien machine rushing underwater. Drastic, fluid-like, and otherworldly. Its impression seems to vary each time you tap into its particular realm. It’s an aesthetic blurred into a collage of emotions, taking shape in stimulating visual experiences you have yet to taste until now. It’s something entirely new yet bizarrely familiar. Strange but highly resonating.

High Protein “Cybele”

Rising EDM producer High Protein shares a darkly intoxicating, atmospheric new single. “Cybele,” smashed with discordant synth and pulsing industrial dreams, paints an unusual atmosphere of alluring aroma and complex sensory effects. Exotic, ethnic elements give the track a kind of otherworldliness that has listeners question where they are at the same time captivated by the scenic soundscapes.

In “Cybele,” Middle eastern influences confront oriental melodies and rhythms while being amplified by a drastic bassline that lurks and growls from the underworld. Futuristic but earthy, dystopian but ethereal, dark but euphoric. “Cybele” explores dualities in the Australian producer’s own creation of a sonic cocktail.

Without a marketing plan or any help from a label, “Cybele” has garnered over 6,000 organic streams since its release in January. High Protein lately released a new single, “Caecilious.”

ALBUM REVIEW: IDLEFON “COLDSTREAM”

Album of the Week

Idlefon hides melodies behind melodies. In a seemingly disoriented and chaotic world, he sheds light on the beauty and sacredness and creates a unique world around it. COLDSTREAM is massive and gigantic, immersive and complex, where Idlefon creates vivid imageries that flourish in your mind’s eye. Combining dark ambiance, glitch, electronic, and industrial elements, the artist paints the wall with his unique sound palettes shift the way you perceive the world.

In the ascending visuals that thrive and empower in the cold, rigid messiness, sacredness and respect are established in “Coldstream.” The song leaves you in the decline of an echoing drone. “Marooned” starts with a loop where order/melody slowly evolves in the seemingly chaotic, glitch soundscape. Through the elevating string/organ pad that feels like streams of light spreading out and penetrating the heavy smog-like sound wall, transform this experience into something else, and then it fades in color as if it is returning to the pure, original state.

“Lucid Moment” combines industrial, electronic elements to create a metal-like texture that leads you into a trance. The percussion-centered piece has a thin layer of ambiance that builds up the vacancy of the space which introduces an interesting lucid moment. As the storming airy soundscape that is misty and gigantic in shape approaches, a melody underneath began to unveil, as if a human voice is vague.

“Deadbeat” is something quite strange and experimental among the tracks. It has a cold, rigid surface that is identical to the album. Behind the vague, the melody reminds you of a person walking and singing, who you can’t really see clearly but it’s there. It gives you the mysterious, creepy feeling that is really powerful in its sonics.
