5 Q&A With Dez Rocket

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "Akashic Walker" and the story it tells?

I was inspired by someone whom I’ve never formally met or spoken with, though I felt an immediate energetic bond and deep soul connection at first sight. During meditation I was told what our names were in a past life (Senya and Diama) as well as many other things, and I was so moved that I wrote the story Senya and Diama: A Cosmic Love Story. The story chronicles the galactic downloads I was receiving in regards to this connection in a semi-historical/fictional sense. And having lived what many refer to as a very hard life, it inspired me to ‘raise the bar’ on my inner shadow work and soul fragmentation repair in hopes that one day I may find myself in alignment with my forever cosmic soulmate.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Akashic Walker?"

While working on pre-production for my next album, I was asked by someone in my inner circle to send them something to listen to. I chose “Akashic Walker” and sent it over and the response was so positive that I sent it to a few more people and received the same reaction. I usually don’t get such an overwhelming unanimous reaction because so much of what I write has an acquired taste attached to it that takes many people time to warm up to. Having written thousands of songs since I was young, I often can’t hear what others might hear, not unlike a parent who tries to love all of their kids equally and who mainly focuses on their good and admirable qualities.

What impact do you hope "Akashic Walker" will have on your audience?

That no matter how far you’ve fallen or how broken you think you might be, there is always hope for healing and redemption, and that your miracles, blessings and abundance are almost always closer than you think. And most importantly, that love conquers all.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

As my mother tells the story, when I was 3 years old I came into the house and announced “mom, I wrote a song. It’s called ‘Barbecue’... you wanna hear it?” And so it began.

After playing in 3 bands in my teenage years, I finally got my first break when I was 21 and was recruited by the band Xeno who was looking for a lead singer, and who’s guitar player had already achieved gold album status. One year later, I found myself on tour playing for audiences across the United States and Canada. The first band I formed where I was the sole songwriter was my Los Angeles-based band Chongo Guru, playing most of our shows in and around LA. Currently, I’m working on pre-production for my 4th studio album as a solo artist. What most people don’t know about me is that I’m an energetic transmutationalist who, after many mystical experiences, found myself a student of an internationally known Dakota medicine man/light warrior. I came to Gaia to shift the collective consciousness through ceremony and ritual, seeking upliftment and energetic balance for all the souls and energy bodies in this realm.

What role do you feel emotions play in your music, and how do you channel them into your performances?

Emotions are key. If ‘low-key’ is a thing these days, then emotions to me are ‘high-key’. I feel it’s the main element that brings out the best in my performances. Because there are no ‘secrets’ in the quantum realm, I strive for truth, expansion, growth and authenticity. And, as a Heyoka empath I feel things deeply. So deep that it often shakes and quakes me down to the core of my being. Emotions are my compass, and I would be lost without them. It’s who I am. I was born this way.
