5 Q&A With Sean Delaney

Can you tell me more about "Classic?"

“Classic” is an original song that I wrote and produced. The instrumental has a lot of different piano melodies that bring you back to the days of Baroque and classical music. So I wanted to incorporate those two versions of it being a classic. I love to make songs that withstand the test of time as the lyrics say. I'm all about longevity.

Could you discuss the lyrical themes or messages conveyed in "Classic?"

It's a darker track. It's a form of expression on how I feel about the music industry and where things have gone over time. It's me allowing myself to get out that anger and frustration in a lyrical form. I feel like I'm definitely in my bag on this one.

What did you enjoy most about making "Classic?"

The freedom of mixing, mastering, and producing all of my own music. And “Classic” clearly shows how far I've come as far as quality and content are concerned. Every song on this new album is about freedom.

How did you get started in music, and what inspired you to become a singer-songwriter?

Growing up with my father, an Old Hippie and Vietnam War vet, he opened my eyes to all genres of music including the classics that started it all such as the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors. These were all bands that I fell in love with and so because my town was concentrated on Hip Hop at the time that's where I started creating and learning how to become lyrical with my poetry.

What has been the most memorable experience or achievement in your music career so far?

There have been a lot of accomplishments but I feel like now is where I'm most free and happy. I feel like I get better every day. And now that I have a little wisdom on my side, I can use that to really get in touch with who I am as an artist. I think that's been the most fun of all. Getting to know where I can stretch and take things. As you see with this album there are so many different genres of music incorporated into it. It's just awesome that I get to create and love what I do.
