ADAM WEDD On the Making Of “Shipwrecks”

What was the creative process like for this particular song?

I remember my ex-girlfriend had left me on New Year’s Day and I was studying for a master’s degree. I wrote the chorus one day on my lunch break at university and the receptionist came in to the room and was like, that's a good one!

Can you describe the emotions or feelings you hope "Shipwrecks" evokes in listeners?

It’s about being so thankful for what you had with someone but accepting letting them and you move on, into the next chapter, with no hard feelings.

What was your favorite moment in making this music video

Learning how to make the paper origami boats!

How did you get started in music, and what inspired you to become a singer-songwriter?

The way it makes you feel when you strum a chord on the guitar or twinkle notes on the piano, it instantly takes me somewhere else.

What do you find most rewarding about co-writing with others?

Finishing ideas quicker with others, and seeing a story from another perspective. I love hearing other people’s stories too to get me out of my own narcissistic bubble.
