After Years Away, PROTEK Returns With a Tech House Banger Born From Pure Newfie Chaos

Punk Head: “Leakin’” sounds like it started as an inside joke that slowly became a worldview. At what point did you realize, “Okay, this actually needs to become a track”?

PROTEK: That's exactly what happened. We were sittin around having a wobbly pop or 2 after work one day with some friends and he just suddenly berted that our and gave us the story about where it came from. Right then and there a bulb clicked and I loked him right in the eyes and said " I've got an idea! "

Punk Head: You took a long break from producing. Did coming back feel natural immediately, or did you have to relearn your creative instincts a little?

PROTEK: Well the struggle was real! The tech moved along alot since 2009 lol As it should though, I'm still learning and people can only expect thing to get better from here.

Punk Head: Joey Regular accidentally becoming the muse for your comeback single is kind of perfect. Has he fully processed the fact that his vocabulary is now immortalized in a song?

PROTEK: Oh lord tunderin, he sure has ( Newfy speak for Joey ) He's pumped about and hopefully I can get him on stage at a festival some day soon.

Punk Head: What does this comeback chapter allow you to express that maybe you couldn’t express before?

PROTEK: Well this being my first solo real kick at the can is really allowing me to go whatever direction I want and have fun with the lyrics and vibes.

Punk Head: You mention more tracks are already on the way. Is “Leakin’” representative of the sound you’re moving toward, or is it more of an opening statement before exploring different directions?

PROTEK: My new songs - I think there are 5 released on various labels ( if you want to link them you can, I wont be angry ) Most have a common tone so you can kinda tell its me. Bu yeah its definatly not all I have planned - I'm going to start back at good old underground T dot Tech house again! Who knows what else I'll get into :)
