Aly Berry On the Making Of “The Wrong Man”
How does "The Wrong Man" reflect your musical journey and growth as an artist?
The wrong man is the first release from my debut album, it is the start for a lot of many things in my career. I have grown so much as an artist, I had to go through a lot to find my voice and my sound and this song is the first taster I’d say of everything that is to come.
How did you approach the arrangement and composition of the music for this masterpiece?
So I had an idea for it for a while, I sent over a voice note I believe on my phone to Paul Higgs (the composer / producer) of the vision I had and some draft lyrics & we got in the studio started experimenting with ideas and melodies.
What did you enjoy most about making this track?
Seeing it come to life! We didn’t just do this song in a studio in a day with instrument samples, we chose some of the best musicians and I recorded each of them individually- I even had the track sent to Italy to have Scott Hamilton record saxophone on it.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
It sounds cheesy, but music saves me. I’m a very deep and sensitive person and I write and listen to music in order to cope with how much I feel. Music speaks differently to each Individual, depending on their situation, what they’re going through, what they’re feeling.
I love to write and I love to perform.
How do you approach collaborations with other musicians and maintain creative synergy?
I love collaborating! If people have big visions I love it! I’m not shy to ask people to collaborate either or feature on my music! If you don’t ask you don’t get!
