BBlue On the Making Of “Unbroken”
What was the creative process like for this particular song?
It was a liberating process because I had a lot of negative emotions accumulated inside me that I didn't want to express at first. But as I began to experiment with the piano through bouncy chords, inspiration came to me and I knew I was going to turn it into a song. The other instrumental parts of the song flowed naturally from that. I wrote the lyrics during the night, around 1 a.m. I wanted each line to be raw, honest and authentic, bringing a dark yet bright aspect to the song, symbolizing resilience in the face of life's challenges.
Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "Unbroken?"
There was a moment where I totally messed up the lyrics mid-take, but it actually led to a better phrasing in the end so I just made fun of myself and it put me in a more relaxed state for the other takes.
What impact do you hope "Unbroken" will have on your audience?
Honestly, if it makes someone stop for a second, reflect or feel less alone, even briefly, that would mean a lot to me, but ideally I want the song to remind people that even in their most fragile moments, there's still strength within them. That feeling of being broken isn't the end, it's the beginning of healing.
Can you tell us more about you as an artist?
I would say I'm rather drawn to vulnerability, I'm always trying to capture moments of raw emotions, whether it's joy, pain, or uncertainty. I try to be an observer, translating feelings into sound and making my songs snapshots of inner states, sometimes messy, but always real. I'm also inspired by contrasts. Light and dark, softness and strength. I like to create music that feels cinematic but intimate, something you can lose yourself in and also relate to deeply.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced as a musician, and how did you overcome them?
I often struggle with inner noise, overthinking, when I'm supposed to create, as well as inspiration that disappears for unknown reasons. Sometimes I feel nothing and there isn't a worse feeling than feeling nothing, so I try to put my focus on something else, go for a walk or exercise and sometimes ideas come back into my mind. Otherwise, stage fright has always been an obstacle for me but I'm sure I will get used to it as time goes by.
