Feature: Fabbro di Chiavi Decodes “Future”

What inspired you to write the music for "Future?"

"Future" is akin to a curious child, perhaps the one depicted on the single's cover. The inspiration behind it was multifaceted. Beyond creating a melodic oasis from the intense progressive rock/metal of the previous work, we aimed to infuse the tune with an element of unpredictability. Modulations played a pivotal role in this, allowing for wild exploration of harmonic capabilities.

How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for "Future" to life?

As both the producer and engineer, I played a vital role in realizing the vision for "Future." Leveraging my studies as an aerospace engineer, I approached the composition process with an acute understanding of each instrument's frequency space. This informed the arrangement and orchestration, ensuring every element found its place in the mix. Awareness of technical constraints and possibilities facilitated seamless integration of ideas, resulting in a balanced and dynamic sonic landscape.

Can you talk about any collaborations you had while making this masterpiece?

"Future" was a collaborative effort that brought together talented musicians to enrich the sonic tapestry. Keyboarder Carlo Vianelli and drummer Davide Zanella joined forces, adding their unique contributions. Collaborating with Davide and Carlo was a pleasure; they were among the first musicians I ever played with, and even today, the chemistry remains strong. Their collaborative spirit and musical prowess elevated the track to new heights.

Every composer has a unique style. How would you describe your musical "voice" or signature style? What sets your compositions apart?

My musical "voice" is characterized by versatility and genre-blending. Rooted in progressive rock, my compositions seamlessly blend classical and electric guitar techniques. With "Future," the guitar technique brought forth a tune with incredible dynamic range, perfectly aligned with the tension towards the future that we wanted to paint. This fusion of styles creates a unique sonic experience that sets this composition apart.

How do you build upon that starting point to develop a full composition?

Building upon initial inspiration, I embark on a journey of exploration and experimentation. Starting with a melodic motif or harmonic progression, I delve into a wild exploration of harmonic capabilities, injecting unpredictability through modulations. Collaborating with fellow musicians, the composition evolves into a cohesive narrative, capturing the essence of inspiration while exploring new territories.
