Feature: Fantuzzi Decodes ‘Snakes’
What was the creative process like for this particular EP?
As this is our debut EP we had a pool of songs to fish from starting from the very beginning of our Fantuzzi journey. We chose the three tracks that we felt best represented our range. The producer of the EP, Cisco Parisi, brought out elements of the music that we ourselves hadn’t noticed and so the making of the EP was a discovery experience for us as well as him. The weird, rough and quirky is mixed in with the shiny and polished through the meeting of minds of Fantuzzi and Parisi.
What impact do you hope 'Snakes' will have on your audience?
We hope it will make our audience fall in love with us and want to hear more! The fact that you’ve got a dance track, a rough and ready rock n’ roll banger and an epic ballad gives the listener a unique insight into us not only as a band but as people.
What was your favorite moment in making the music video?
For ‘Snakes’ we did a shoot and mine (Juliette) and Rhys’ home where we all had a some Prosecco, got a bit loose and enjoyed ourselves dressing up together and having a bit of a party. For Gala my favourite moment was definitely seeing Rhys and myself covered in green screen paint with only our lips sticking out!
Can you tell us more about you as a band?
As a band we like to think we’ve evolved a lot in the last months with the addition of our new drummer, Sofia Albanese. We’re a really cohesive group where each member has a very specific style and character which gets inserted into each new song. The point of our music is to be free, fun and explorative whilst maintaining a strong vibe. Our newest material really showcases this.
Where do you find inspiration for your songs or musical ideas?
In a practical way - as Rhys and I are married so we get the privilege of always being around each other and writing together and discovering new licks and riffs that the other then adds to and transforms. It usually begins like this and then the inspiration gets added to when we’re all together in the studio when Tom and Sofia add their special touches.
In a more metaphysical way - inspiration comes from the people around us also making music (from the past and present) as well as the possibilities of exploration and discovery and all the magic that, despite its many problems, the world still has to offer.
