What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "Promises?"
“Promises” is a contemplation of the process of allowing yourself to be swept up in dreams.
On one hand, it’s totally freeing to be swept up in an idealistic world—
A bit like being a passenger on a motorcycle.
And in another way, we could look at it as if we are the victims of a crime.
It’s the contemplation of the power we hold and that we misplace when we are free enough to release the wheel and dance in a beautiful dream for a while.
Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for this song?
Feeling everything slow down as groove becomes you and you find your space within it.
What impact do you hope "Promises" will have on your audience?
I hope “Promises” fills the listener with the honesty that gives them the power to own the parts of this journey that seem magical in the moment even when they don’t feel their expectations are met in this reality.
As the universe works in magical ways,
And those moments in the dream euphoria are sometimes more fulfilling than any reality.
Can you tell us more about you as a duo?
Tom allows me to express and explore without judgment.
He crushes my tendency to be too controlling,
And his ability to create sound and musical drama frees me to drift into deeper waters within myself.
We obviously have known each other in many lifetimes—
Or how the heck did we ever take the chance to make it happen from each side of the world?
I did ask God / Universe to show me a real sacrifice or I’m not interested.
That’s when Tom appeared in my life.
How do you cope with the vulnerability of sharing your personal emotions and stories through your songs?
This life is about the internal exploration and development of awareness of our true depths.
My personal quest is to know as much about myself and the courage of true self-knowing—
Well, at least enough to keep pushing the internal boundaries as fearlessly as possible.
Nothing to discover by playing it safe.
Fearlessly challenging my own limits and weaknesses while fulfilling my dreams.
