Punk Head: Can you talk about any specific themes or motifs that run throughout All The Demons Are Here?

J Christopher: I like to approach my music projects as if they’re unfolding narratives. For example, my EP All The Demons Are Here serves as a chapter within a larger story. This particular collection explores the timeless conflict between good and evil, set against the backdrop of today’s world—marked by technology, division, and spiritual awakening. The opening track symbolizes a moment of light or calm before the storm, setting the stage for what’s to come. By the time you reach the end, it becomes clear that you’ve experienced a sonic journey reflecting the ongoing struggle to find balance between opposing forces. Every vocal sample was deliberately chosen and crafted to reinforce key messages, weaving them creatively and memorably into the soundscape. I’m proud of how this narrative arc comes through across the entire EP.

Punk Head: Can you talk about the recording and production process for this EP?

J Christopher: My recording and production process for this EP is a journey that starts quite rhythmically—usually with crafting the drum patterns. From there, I dive into experimenting with different bass leads, aiming to build a strong and flexible foundation that can carry the track forward. Once I feel confident that this base can support creative exploration, I shift my focus to composing melodies and sculpting synth sounds.

What I really chase is a sound that captures a full spectrum of emotions—everything from happiness, peace, and nostalgia to conflict, anger, and sadness. It’s when I sense all those feelings swirling together that the real magic happens. That emotional blend sparks the creativity that brings out the melody and makes my heart flutter.

After that, I start layering and assembling all the elements, letting the music evolve organically. This phase is deeply inspired by how connected I feel to the sound I’m shaping—there’s a very personal, emotional thread running through it. The storytelling aspect emerges naturally once I have a clear sense of what the song means to me. Ultimately, the story grows from an inner connection to myself, my worldview, and the vision I’m channeling, all of which are inseparable from those emotional elements.

Punk Head: How does this EP fit into your overall artistic vision?

J Christopher: This EP is a direct extension of my overall artistic vision. With it, I aim to create the same soothing, immersive experience that I feel whenever I listen to my own music—something that transcends genre and reaches both the ears and the mind. The tracks on this EP continue to explore the delicate balance between darkness and light, weaving hypnotic textures and rhythms that mirror the complexity and contrasts of our modern world. It’s about inviting listeners into a space where they can feel both grounded and transported, reflecting the emotional depth and nuance I strive to capture in all my work.

Punk Head: Was there a pivotal moment in your life when you decided to follow your path as a musician?

J Christopher: There was definitely a defining moment that set me on my path as a musician. It happened when I was a teenager, on a trip to the mall with my cousin. I remember hearing Paul Oakenfold’s album Another World for the first time—it completely mesmerized me. That moment sparked a deep love for electronic music; EDM felt like this entirely new world opening up right in front of me.
But what really pushed me to take music seriously—especially production—was realizing I had a unique ear for blending sounds. I discovered I could take unusual, even strange noises, and weave them together into something beautiful by mixing influences from all kinds of genres. That creative freedom and experimentation is what truly motivated me to pursue this path.

Punk Head: How do you approach creating something new and different?

J Christopher: When I set out to create something new and different, I like to blend dark, hypnotic, and experimental elements to shape a truly unique sonic experience. I find inspiration by weaving together a variety of electronic subgenres—trance, dubstep, ambient, techno, downtempo, and drum & bass—pushing boundaries and venturing into fresh, unexplored soundscapes. My aim is to craft music that’s both deeply emotive and immersive, engaging listeners on a profound level while also offering a soothing quality. Ideally, this makes the work versatile enough to resonate with people anytime, anywhere. This approach not only fuels innovation but also keeps a strong emotional connection at the heart of what I create.

Punk Head: Tell me about the wildest song you’ve ever written but never published

J Christopher: I composed a classic dubstep track inspired by one of my all-time favorite video games, Mass Effect. My cousin then created an impressive video for the song, incorporating scenes from the game. It’s one of my favorite pieces that I never officially released but still cherish to this day because it gave me a lot of confidence in my music production skills.
