Feature: Laguna Decodes “Sweetlips”
What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "Sweetlips?"
I wasn’t looking to write it—I was knee-deep in the next Laguna album but this little idea had a pull to it. So I followed it. Sometimes, the best ideas happen when you’re not chasing anything.
What is your favourite part about making music videos?
It’s usually about creating a world where sound and image feel like they belong to the same memory or something. Most of the “Sweetlips” clip was shot on 16mm. The master was dumped to VHS and then remastered, preserving analog artefacts to sit right alongside the film.
What impact do you hope "Sweetlips" will have on your audience?
I hope it nudges people inward a little—toward that rich inner world we all carry but don’t always take the time to explore. Sometimes all it takes is one moment—one feeling—to open a door.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I didn’t set out with a plan, I’m just a rogue vessel, out at sea with no land in sight (haha).
Are there any particular skills or techniques that you have been working on lately?
Hmm, just being gentle can sometimes feel stronger. Discipline go’s a long way, listen to the silence it’s an integral part of creation.
