Feature: Levana Decodes “break for one night”
What was the creative process like for this particular song?
I went through the creative process by focusing on the emotions from what I was going through. I had to do a lot of reflection on the relationship that I cut off in order to execute my vision. I'm so happy with how the project came out because if I hadn't channeled all of the anger and sadness I was feeling at the time, there wouldn't have been the emotional depth I wanted it to have.
Is there a particular message or theme you hope listeners take away from "break for one night?"
The message I want the listeners to take away is to never give people so many chances and tolerate narcissistic behavior. No matter how many times someone promises you they'll change, the cycle will always repeat itself.
What was your favorite moment in making the music video?
My favorite moment while creating the music video was the scene of me flipping pages in my custom-made book. The pages had messy writing indicating rage kind of like a hate letter, and it felt so real in the moment. I realized how all of my videos have come together so well with the haunting imagery I've been creating through each one.
Can you tell us more about you as an artist?
I value quality as an artist more than anything. If I'm not giving my listeners a full sensory experience where every emotion is felt to its core, I know I'm doing something wrong. And for me, quality isn't about perfection, it's about authenticity. I want every sound and lyric to be honest and reveal personal feelings that I can only express through art.
Are there any particular skills or techniques that you have been working on lately?
I've been working more on learning new production skills. The technique I use is analyzing other songs in my genre and how they're made. I love remaking/covering other songs and I learn something new about music production every single time.
