heavy on the heart. On the Making Of “Pretty Pills”
How did everything come together?
Costas and I were sitting together on his back porch as his old band was falling apart and he was venting to me about how much it was hurting him. So I said “let’s start a band.”
He kept venting and he said “this weights so heavy on my heart” and interrupted him and said “THATS IT! That’s the name of our band heavy on the heart” and that’s how our band was born. The rest is history.
What impact do you hope "Pretty Pills" will have on your audience?
We all have our own inner demons and we all have things the outside world doesn’t know we’re internally dealing with.
You’re not alone. We hope you never feel alone. We hope you feel seen and heard by our music and you can connect with it.
What was your favorite moment in making the music video?
Music videos are always fun, especially when you need friends and family members to help you.
Seeing how much people support your dreams and your art makes you just wanna keep going.
It makes you believe even more in yourself when you’re surrounded by such an amazing support system.
Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?
I truly think that our music is meant for others to feel like they’re not alone and that we all share things in common. Whether it be anxiety, love, life obstacles, growth.
We just love writing things that people can interpret to something in their own life.
How do you continuously grow and evolve as a band?
As a band, we practiced twice a week and we actually do things together as a family.
Last summer, we lived in a van together for six weeks; I even brought my three-year-old son along for part of it. (It was incredible)
We are Truly a family and we’re very good at communicating with each other, we vibe off each other and we’re constantly helping one another.
Since the start of this band, each one of us has gone through pretty significant life-changing things - and we’ve only grown stronger as a unit.
