Kilravock Releases ‘Tyranny of the Clock’

KILRAVOCK, the solo project of Omaha area songwriter and producer STEVEN WAYNE SMITH is back with a new release to follow up from the INCOMPATIBILITY ][ WORKING CLASS HERO single released late last year. This time he is expanding the preview into his upcoming album JUST ANOTHER WONDERFUL DAY, a six-song release featuring 2 original songs, 2 cover songs, and 2 songs from his other projects. TYRANNY OF THE CLOCK released to the public on May, 1st 2025 to celebrate May Day with its themes of Antiwork, Worker Exploitation, Labor Rights, and Neurodiversity struggles in the workplace. This EP features 2 new tracks in WHO KILLED SAINT MONDAY and SOLIDARITY FOREVER, the penultimate song and album closer for the upcoming full-length album.

WHO KILLED SAINT MONDAY is a rockin’ song that is based on the writings of Anarchist George Woodcock who penned a piece called THE TYRANNY OF THE CLOCK, an essay that examines the worker’s relationship with the clock when it was introduced into the workplace during the industrial revolution. SMITH adapts his writing into a tune that propels it forward into an angry tune. The next song SOLIDARITY FOREVER is an adaptation of a song written in 1912 by songwriter and popularized by American Folk hero PETE SEEGER and UTAH PHILLIPS and used as an anthem for the INTERNATIONAL WORKERS OF THE WORLD. SMITH has taken the typically upbeat and celebratory song and has turned it into a melancholy song that mourns the death of labor unions in the United States and yearns for their return to prominence. This song also features guest appearences by close friends and bandmates of his that round the track out with a powerful message of strength in unity.

To supplement the newly release songs SMITH has also remixed and remastered the two songs from the first single release INCOMPATIBILITY and WORKING CLASS HERO, cleaning them up and giving them new punch. Rounding out the release are two songs from SMITH’S current projects post-punk outfit THE ALLITERATES and weird avant-garde experimental project LUCID FUGUE. These two songs carry the same themes that are present on the upcoming full length album.

This release contains a multitude of different influences that include alternative rock, progressive rock, art rock, post-punk, post-metal, stoner rock, sludge metal, and even bits of electronic and industrial for taste. A good listen for someone seeking something fresh! This album is available on most, if not all, major streaming platforms and links can be found at.
