Litiges! Releases "I wanna be a diamond "
What if the problem isn't that I don't shine enough… but that I was taught I had to shine to deserve to be loved?
“I wanna be a diamond" draws a soft fracture between doubt and light. At first fragile, almost fading, the track slowly opens, pulses, and becomes movement.
A melancholic indie rock piece that turns into momentum. Best played on your way home from work, before night fully falls, when the urge to believe in yourself returns, to shine without asking for permission.
LITIGES! was born from collapse. After more than two years of personal upheaval, the artist behind the project lost his footing — and found himself recording emotions he didn't yet understand, like messages in a bottle.
From that fall came a rebirth. LITIGES! transforms fracture into creative energy, offering a breathing space for anyone exhausted by a culture of constant judgment.
His debut EP "I wanna be a diamond" blends melancholy and momentum — guitars, live analog drums recorded in Los Angeles, and electronic textures crafted with sound engineer Cloon. The sound draws from the darkness of Ghinzu, the elegance of Archive, and the subtlety of The Notwist. His deep voice is often compared to Nick Cave.
The lyrics, mostly in English, operate on two levels: intimately personal, and critically aware of a post-truth world where everyone holds their version of the truth without truly listening. Even the name — litiges (disputes) — points toward constructive dissent, dialogue over confrontation.
Spotted by Didier Varrod (Radio France) at the Francofolies in Berlin, he has spent 15 years performing across stages of all sizes worldwide.
The first single "You're freakin' me out" drops April 24, 2026, with the EP set for January 2027.
In the corridors of an open-plan office where everyone chases recognition, in relationships where we exhaust ourselves giving more and more just to exist in someone else's eyes, in a society that teaches us shining is a prerequisite for love — a troubling question runs through our lives.
Do I truly love myself, or do I only love the version of me that others approve of?
LITIGES! explores this modern tension with "I wanna be a diamond" — a song about the exhaustion of those who were taught they had to shine to deserve to be loved.
A track that questions the moment when giving is no longer free, when we quietly slip into an unbalanced relationship with ourselves and others.
The song opens like a pop lament, a sensual and vulnerable voice carrying the melancholy of giving without receiving. Then the light arrives — a groove that invites you to dance, to bloom, to reveal yourself.
This musical progression perfectly mirrors the message: from resignation to self-affirmation.
The arrangements move between the grandeur of Arcade Fire and the dark elegance of The Cure, creating a world where melancholy becomes a force for life.
"I wanna be a diamond" speaks to all those who exhaust themselves in appearances, who overwork or play a character to shine for others while losing themselves in the process.
The track whispers a liberating revelation: to fully exist in someone else's eyes without getting lost in them, you must first be a diamond for yourself.
Only from there can you truly shine for others and bring something real to their lives.
To be listened to on the way out of work, when night hasn't quite fallen yet and the desire to believe in yourself quietly returns — to shine without asking for permission.
