Michelle Bond and Brad Johnson wrote the lyrics and melody to this song. I met Brad in a songwriting retreat in Southern California and when we collaborated on this song, there was a lot of fun in writing the story.
Who influenced this release?
Fleetwood Mac was mentioned often while we worked on this song.
What's the story behind this release?
We were both attending a songwriting retreat in the San Bernadino mountains in May of this year. We wanted to create a song with a looping backtrack that centered on Love and the many ways that people can make a game out of it.
Tell us what makes this release stand out and why it's significan.
This is one of my first collaborations with a fellow songwriter in California. It was refreshing to find a songwriter that felt and had the same energy as I do.
Where did the recording take place?
Recording the demos took place in San Francisco and Minneapolis where Brad resides. we bot took our demos and handed them to Marius Alexandru from Romania and he turned our track into a beautiful production that we are so very proud of.
What was unique about the recording process?
Recording in different states and delivering them to Marius in Romania help fuse that feeling of distance and disconnection. But by the end, the production came out so seamless, it felt that the song finished in a very congruous manner that sounds so well balanced and executed.
Is there anything additional that would be valuable for curators to know?
The importance of finding a collaborator that you can make a connection with really adds to the overall result of this track. The way in which we spent time in the details of the story making really shows how much we enjoyed working together at the time of songwriting.
