MORTAL PROPHETS On the Making Of ‘Sleeping In My Bed’

How does 'Sleeping In My Bed' differ from your previous work?

I think it’s an extension of the previous work, I’m always moving in several directions at the same time, as I work with different producers. Each producer has a unique approach to working with me. I find that exciting. I encourage the unexpected and unpredictable.

What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for this EP?

I feel and hear the lyrics in the music, they speak directly to me. I channel the lyrics. They usually happen very quickly.

Which song(s) from the EP do you think best represents your artistic vision?

Tough question, I think “Tom Waits in Drag” and “Sleeping in My Bed” are nice representations of my sound at the moment.

How do you continuously grow and evolve as an artist?

I’m very open to following my muses, so I’m continually experimenting with genres, mixing genres, and following my passions. I like the unexpected accidents that happen when you're making an EP.

Is there a specific song that holds a particularly special meaning to you? Can you share the story behind it?

I enjoy the narrative and amusing twists in “Tom Waits in Drag.”
