The House Flies Releases “Sweet Foxhound”
Midwest gothic post-punk band The House Flies return with their new single “Sweet Foxhound,” the group’s first release since their 2024 album Mannequin Deposit.
“Sweet Foxhound” is a brooding yet melodic track that unfolds with shadowy guitar layers, pulsing bass, and a driving rhythm that pushes forward with a sense of restless urgency. Haunting vocal lines float over a dense and atmospheric mix, creating a mood both hypnotic and unsettling — a fitting continuation of the band’s dark and evocative sound.
The single also marks the first official recording to feature second guitarist Burnie Eckardt (Dynoride), who joined The House Flies (Alex Riggen – guitar/vocals; Ozzie Woods – bass; Nick Pompou – drums) ahead of Mannequin Deposit’s release to expand their live lineup. Originally written and played live during the Mannequin Deposit sessions, the song was refined and fully captured in recent months, bridging the band’s past work with the direction they are headed.
While Sweet Foxhound stands as a self-contained release, The House Flies are currently at work on their next album, which is shaping into a longer, darker, and heavier body of work.
Formed in the Midwest, The House Flies weave gothic atmosphere, post-punk textures, and a brooding melodic sensibility into their sound. Their debut, the Glimmer EP (2023), introduced their haunting style, followed by the full-length Mannequin Deposit (2024), which expanded their sonic palette and gained critical attention. With the release of Sweet Foxhound in 2025, the band continues to evolve while working toward their next album.
