T.Y. On the Making Of ‘DUE 4 A WIN’

How did everything come together?

Organically would pros to be the best way I could put it. Going into the recording process, I didn't really have much of a theme or even a tracklist of songs I wanted to do, but working with Douggie, things just flowed naturally and it all came together perfectly.

How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for 'DUE 4 A WIN' to life?

We worked in a live studio for the recording process. Douggie, the executive producer, would send me a beat he made, we'd head to the studio and record it, and then talk about how the flow of the album is or what the next work concept would be.

Which song(s) from 'DUE 4 A WIN' do you think best represents your artistic vision?

I think it's a tie between "New Drama" and "Rainfall", honestly. "New Drama" is that bouncy, hard-hitting sample where I'm rapping my ass off and coming with the best wordplay possible, and "Rainfall" is more emotional and vulnerable, where I'm showcasing who I am as a person. So it's a cool contrast between the two tracks.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

Well I'm from Jersey City, New Jersey, first and foremost. But my music journey started relatively recently, my first song that I recorded and released was a little more than a year ago. I've always been interested and inspired by music, I think I've just finally took that step and decided to actually make it.

Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?

Being triumphant and resilient, overcoming adversity and staying true to yourself are some themes that I really focused on and hope gets conveyed on the album. This album was made with those core values in mind, so hopefully the listener feels that too.
