5 Q&A With Christopher Rodriguez
What was the initial spark or idea that led to the creation of "Declare It?"
“The spark came while looking at the state of the world today — wars, rumors of wars, and nations divided. Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:6 — ‘And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.’ That pressed on my heart. We can’t afford to be silent in such a time. The Old Testament confirms this urgency in Isaiah 62:6 — ‘I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night.’ That’s where Declare It came from — a call to speak boldly in troubled times.”
Were there any challenges or breakthrough moments during the songwriting process for "Declare It?"
“The challenge was making the song simple enough for all to grasp, yet strong enough to carry the Word in these times. The breakthrough came through Isaiah 55:11 — ‘So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please.’ That’s the Old Testament promise. The New Testament confirms it in Hebrews 4:12 — ‘For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword… and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’ That gave me confidence that the song wasn’t about me — it was about His Word going forth in power.”
How do you feel this track represents your artistic identity?
“This track shows my identity is not in music trends but in Christ. Galatians 2:20 says, ‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.’ That’s the New Testament side of my calling. The Old Testament mirrors this in Jeremiah 20:9 — ‘But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.’ My identity is simple: I can’t stay silent. Declare It reflects that fire burning within me to proclaim His truth.”
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?
“I began music as personal expression, but when I surrendered to Christ, it became a ministry. Psalm 96:3 says, ‘Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.’ That’s the Old Testament call. The New Testament ties it in with Mark 16:15 — ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’ That’s what Declare It represents — taking the gospel beyond the pulpit and into places music can reach.”
Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?
“Yes, every song has a theme rooted in scripture. With Declare It, the core message is Proverbs 18:21 — ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.’ That’s the Old Testament truth. The New Testament confirms it in Romans 10:10 — ‘For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.’ The theme is clear: our words matter. In these days of war, shaking, and fear, we must declare life, faith, and Christ as Lord.”
