95 Bulls On the Making Of “Gin Shot”

What is the inspiration behind it?

Emily (Singer): It's about teetering on the edge of a manic spiral. A gin shot in my mind is a hellish first step to losing my chill and control (also my least favorite booze so if I were to go there I'd go the worst way).

How did you work with the producer or engineers to bring your vision for this track to life?

We usually just start with a riff and feel out where it's going together. The build at the end was how the first jam naturally ended and we kept that. When working with Oliver (engineer) we tried to explain the difference in tone of verses to make it feel softer and "back of your mind" but still driving.

How does "Gin Shot" fit into your overall artistic vision and what can listeners expect from you in the future?

It's probably the best way to introduce the new record. Punch and drive.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

This record is more intense but we're all pretty playful and I don't think we take ourselves too seriously. That theme is represented in our friend Pancho who narrates the record and keeps it from falling too far into itself.

Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?

Grieving misplaced trust and maybe some self-reflection. I don't know those are words for sure though!
