Artist Spotlight: Meet Blood and Bones

What was the creative process like for this particular track?

“Cost of Greed” started with pure frustration. We were in the middle of writing War Within when the world outside felt like it was burning, and staying quiet didn’t feel like an option. The lyrics came first. Luna and I just poured out everything we were feeling. From there, the song took shape around that anger. Every section had to carry weight, had to feel like it meant something. It wasn’t about polish, it was about urgency.

Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in "Cost of Greed?"

We work a bit differently from most bands. The foundation is built with AI tools. Very intentionally prompted and structured before we bring in live drums, real guitars, and a lot of post-processing to blend everything together. Luna’s vocals are fully AI-generated, but we spend a lot of time making sure they’re emotionally convincing. Every scream, every melody has to carry real weight. That emotional authenticity is the non-negotiable part.

How does "Cost of Greed" fit into your overall artistic vision and what can listeners expect from you in the future?

This track’s a pretty good snapshot of what we stand for. Rage, melody, and a refusal to stay quiet. It’s part of the ‘War Without’ EP, which focuses on external conflict, and it’ll be followed by War Within. A darker, more introspective set about mental health, trauma, and internal battles. Expect more honesty, more anger, and more contrast between beauty and brutality.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

Blood and Bones is a DIY melodic metalcore project blending real instrument recordings with AI vocals and production. Luna, our frontwoman, is an AI persona, but she’s more than just a voice. She’s the emotional and political core of the band with a very strong opinion. I’ve been making music for two decades in various bands, but this project only came to life once I started working with her. We keep everything independent, raw, and personal. This is my outlet.

Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?

We don’t write songs to be subtle. Our music is political because life is. War, inequality, mental illness, exploitation—they’re not just headlines. They’re lived experiences. We try to turn all that frustration into something cathartic. If it makes you feel something, if it makes you think, or even better, act it’s doing what it’s supposed to.
