Dj Rauny On the Making Of ‘Rosani’

How did you come up with the theme?

The theme for ‘Rosani’ was inspired by the idea of blending my Punjabi heritage with the sounds that have shaped my journey in electronic music. I wanted to create something that felt both personal and universal music that could move people on the dancefloor while also telling a story about where I come from. The name “Rosani” itself reflects a sense of brightness and new beginnings, which really captured the spirit of this project.

Can you share any interesting or unique musical elements or production techniques used in 'Rosani?'

Absolutely. For ‘Rosani,’ I experimented with integrating traditional Punjabi percussion, like dhol rhythms, into the framework of House and Minimal Techno. I also used field recordings from family gatherings and even included some of my daughter Ellie’s spontaneous sounds, which brought a layer of authenticity and warmth to the tracks. On the technical side, I leaned heavily into rolling bass, analog synths and modular gear, capturing live takes and embracing imperfections to give the EP a more organic feel.

What are you most proud about 'Rosani?'

I’m most proud of how ‘Rosani’ authentically represents my journey both musically and personally. It’s a project that brings together my roots, my family, and my passion for pushing creative boundaries in EDM. Seeing people connect with tracks like "Double Espresso" and hearing how the music resonates with them is incredibly rewarding.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

I’m a music producer currently residing in Singapore, and I started my journey in music when I was 16. Growing up, I was always surrounded by a mix of cultural influences and was fascinated by the energy of electronic music. Artists like Tiesto, David Guetta, and Don Diablo inspired me to start producing my own tracks, and over the years, I’ve worked to develop a sound that’s true to my background and vision for EDM.

How do you stay inspired and motivated to continue pushing boundaries in your art?

My biggest inspiration comes from my family, especially my daughter Ellie, whose energy is infectious and reminds me to keep things fresh and playful. I also stay motivated by constantly exploring new sounds, collaborating with other artists, and engaging with the community whether it’s sharing my music on platforms like Spotify and Deezer, or connecting with listeners and fellow producers on Instagram and YouTube. Every project is a chance to learn, experiment, and grow, and that keeps me excited about what’s next.
