Punk Head Present: Amelina, Seema Farswani, Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas

Art has the power to affect and transcend. Form is the shape that contains the vision. While some become tied to the structure, many also prove that a box can never truly hold their imaginations.

In this edition of Punk Head Presents, Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas, a rising five-piece on the horizon, shares their newest single, “Shy Girl.” Seema Farswani, a multi-faceted, genre-fluid artist, blends cultures in ways that transform borders. Amelia, who originated from Russia and moved to Spain, unveils a seasonal anthem.

Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas - “Shy Girl”

With their second single after signing to Little Genius Recordings, Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas give the spotlight to an introverted but charismatic “Shy Girl” another wicked, enchanting release from the vocal-focused five-piece. “Shy Girl” adheres to their sonic signature of blending electronic pop with folk sensibilities, but through their release, the group crafted something both intimate and bold.

“Shy Girl” is proof that Flo Crowe & The Dilemmas are sonically unique and artistically mature. They are certainly ready to leave their mark on the music scene, which makes this early discovery feel like an honor because it’s only going to be a matter of time before they blow up.

“Shy Girl,” much like its predecessor, is a single on the band’s upcoming full-length album.

Seema Farswani - “Sketches on the Walls”

“Sketches on the Walls” is rooted in the Hindi saying, “Tootey sapney, bikhrey armaan, aashaein, manzilen chhod aaye hum kahan,” which translates to “Broken dreams, scattered desires, hopes and destinations left behind — where have we come to now.” Seema Farswani brings her multicultural perspective into the making of the song. “Sketches on the Walls” is a metaphor for the shadows and scars in the past, but with an infectious beat and thematic chorus, Farswani transcends it into a celebration of resilience and courage.

“Sketches on the Walls” feels like an empowering anthem that takes the shape of a mantra, but wakes up as an energetic pop anthem. In “Sketches on the Walls,” Farswani chooses to own the past instead of dwelling on it. Mirroring her journey as a musician who can’t be defined by borders or one single culture, the track serves as a bridge between languages, past and present, light and darkness.

AMELINA - “A New Year’s Wish”

AMELINA’s energy is irresistible in “A New Year’s Wish.” Channeling a bit of Avril Lavigne and Sabrina Carpenter into her holiday remedy, “A New Year’s Wish” is the perfect pop-rock track to break the ice and kickstart a new year. Even more delicious than hot chocolate, the track doesn’t just warm up your body, but it also fuels your spirit and soul.

The energetic and magnetically melodic track blends seasonal optimism with a bit of early aughts’ pop punk spirit — courageous, unapologetic, and forthcoming. The result is a heartfelt track that radiates vibrance and fire, which feels generous for listeners, who are in for a treat.
