The Fades On the Making Of “This Scene is Over”

What was the creative process like for this particular song?

It originally started off with a drumbeat that Dave ripped from a track on a compilation CD to use as a guide for the demo. Then came that big riff and Dave more or less wrote the song from there, bringing it into the studio for the rest of the band to evolve. We then took it into the recording studio with Morgan Nicholls (ex Senseless Things/Muse) who brought out the big bass sounds from James, powerful drums from Flash and fast-paced intensity of it all, topped off with some soaring lead lines from Jonny.

Were there any memorable or standout moments during the recording sessions for "This Scene is Over?”

For some reason, when doing the backing vocals Flash kept accidentally singing in an Irish accent. There was something about the line that brought out the Irish side. It was hilarious to listen to in isolation.

Can you describe the emotions or feelings you hope "This Scene is Over" evokes in listeners?

It brings an intense and powerful driving feeling. The riff makes you wanna run or drive fast. It's a big festival style mosh pit moment.

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

The Fades are an unrelenting post-punk garage rock four-piece from South West London. Combining a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, songs of love and loss, anxiety and introspection with fierce and energetic raw energy, we create a scintillating mix of post-punk indie and garage rock.

Are there any specific venues or festivals that you dream of performing at?

The one smaller venue that has for some reason eluded us so far is the 100 Club in Soho, it'd be nice to play there due to all the musical history that resonates within it. Festival wise, it would have to be Glastonbury, but we'd love to do 2000 Trees too.
