XY GALA On the Making Of “Human Greed”
What was the creative process like for this particular song?
Honestly? It was fueled by sleepless nights and way too much coffee. That mix of exhaustion and adrenaline somehow unlocked the raw emotion this track needed.
How did you approach the arrangement and composition of the music for "Human Greed?"
I was really inspired by the classic hard rock ballads I grew up on. Rock and metal are in my DNA, and for this song, I wanted to channel that energy into something modern and cinematic. Think of Guns N’ Roses’ Don’t Cry, but with today’s twist, especially when you hear the drum beat, which is influenced by Hip-Hop and Trap.
Is there a particular message or theme you hope listeners take away from "Human Greed?"
Absolutely. The song is a reflection on humanity’s endless hunger for fame, power, and money, echoed in the wars and tragedies we see in the news every day. It feels like instead of learning from history, we’re stuck repeating the same mistakes. The track is my way of pushing back against that cycle.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?
My journey started in Rome, behind the kit as the drummer for a death-core band called Roma Ferox. Even back then, I was heavily involved in songwriting for every band I played in. I’ve always believed that songs hit hardest when the artist sings their own truth. That mindset eventually pushed me to launch my solo project, Xy Gala, where I can fully explore my vision and voice.
How do you cope with the vulnerability of sharing your personal emotions and stories through your songs?
I embrace it. For me, music is pure expression. Every track I write has its own language. If you really want to understand who I am, just listen to the songs, they’ll tell you more than words ever could.
