5 Q&A With Nocturnal Animals
What inspired you to write the lyrics/music for "Can You Make Me Feel Alright?"
“Can You Make Me Feel Alright” came out of a time when I had lost two people close to me, and in a short time. It was confronting, and now when I listen to the song I can hear that. It's honest, and portrays the time frighteningly well in hindsight.
How did you approach the arrangement and composition of the music for this single?
“Can You Make Me Feel Alright” was pretty much the same approach as all the songs. It started with an idea on acoustic, it then moved to the practice room with the whole band, and finally through the demoing before recording you always find new ways to view the song. We knew from the inception of the song though that we wanted to add strings, and make it a larger sounding song than we had previously.
How does "Can You Make Me Feel Alright" fit into your overall artistic vision?
It's a step into being more vulnerable, and opening the emotion of the band up. In many ways, “Can You Make Me Feel Alright” is the close of what started with the 'Paint A Picture' EP that we released previously, whilst opening a new chapter.
Can you tell us more about you as a band?
Skeleton make up, Red Coveralls, and Dance Punk. What more could we say?
Can you share a special moment when you felt a deep connection with the audience?
When you step back from the microphone and a whole room sings our songs back to us. MAGIC.
