Adam Foster On the Making Of “Born Into War”

What was the creative process like for this particular song?

This one came pretty quickly. I wrote it with my guitar in under an hour. Some songs take years of chipping away, so it's great when one is birthed this fast.

Could you discuss the lyrical themes or messages conveyed in "Born Into War?"

It's an anti-war song basically. When you see a child ravaged by war, you can't help but feel ashamed as an adult.

How do you feel "Born Into War" represent your artistic identity?

I do my best to convey the truth in my songs, regardless of how ugly. Lyrically I usually try to say a lot with a little.

Can you tell us more about you as an artist?

I've been writing songs since I was 14 or so. I started as a lyricist, then picked up guitar a bit later. I still love writing, recording, and playing songs as much as I ever did. It's challenging, but fun.

Do you aim to convey any specific themes or messages through your music?

Sometimes my songs are political, like "Born into War", but sometimes they are about trees or love or something.
