Artist Spotlight: Meet American Grim

What was the creative process like for this particular track?

“‘Secrets of Roswell’ tells the story of the Marcel family. Jesse Marcel was a major in the United States Air Force and was the first officer on scene for the Roswell crash. Marcel returned home with a piece of debris from the crash to reveal to his family. On his deathbed, Marcel revealed the truth about the Roswell crash and that there are other lifeforms outside of this Earth.”

How did you approach the arrangement and composition of the music for "Secrets of Roswell?"

“When we first started writing ‘Secrets of Roswell,’ the first line that came to mind was 'the secrets they’re hiding,' which in the end became the hook for the song. After that, the rest of the piece was written in a typical rock/pop song structure.”

What impact do you hope "Secrets of Roswell" will have on your audience?

“‘Secrets of Roswell’ was written to, hopefully, inspire the younger generation (or those unfamiliar with the Roswell crash) to look into the story. This song goes into great detail about the Marcel family story and encourages people who listen to explore the history more.”

Can you tell us more about you as a band?

American Grim (est. 2016) includes: brothers Ryan Grim (vocals) and Brendan Healy (drums), with Michael Morello (guitar), and Maddie Veil (synthesizer). The band started off writing dark, heavy rock music with underlying paranormal themes. We have always been interested in exposing the sinister secrets of American culture, which shifted towards a focus on the extraterrestrial.

Are there any upcoming projects or releases that you are particularly excited about?

For the past four years, we have been creating our first feature film, Roswell Remains. Scheduled for release this year (2025), Roswell Remains covers the truth behind the extraterrestrial in an educational as well as entertaining format. We’re hoping this film can further bring younger minds into the realm of the extraterrestrial, because a lot of those speaking about this topic are from the '60s and '70s, back when the abductions and encounters were first happening. We want to encourage people to question if we’re really alone.

We will also be releasing our fourth full-length album soon, which will be a collection of songs that each tackle a different extraterrestrial encounter that happened in the United States of America. Our mission is to bring people one step closer to extraterrestrial disclosure and to inspire the younger generation to fight for the truth.
