David Peril On the Making Of “She's Dancing”

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind "She's Dancing" and the story it tells?

My inspiration would be the immediate coverage after 7th October from the Nova Festival, Israel and of Shani Louk and what she must have gone through. Then to watch millions of people on the streets all over the world celebrating such evil. Humans don't seem to learn.

Can you describe the emotions or feelings you hope "She's Dancing" evokes in listeners?

There can't be forgiveness for such things, there can only be hope that love will eventually rise to the top.

What was your favorite moment in making the music video?

I sent the song to Lev in Israel as he could better convey the feeling than me. I had my ideas of people coming together, and dancing... rather than any kind of propaganda.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in music?

A whole 20 years passed between my being in a band in Liverpool called Poe-Alley to actually wanting to record again. Over the last couple years I have released an album called Smile and 3 other singles. I have another couple songs finished that will be released within the next few weeks.

How do you approach collaborations with other musicians or artists?

I've not collaborated with other artists but I do use some trusted friends to help me finish the songs so they sound like a band and not just me. If I give the song to Dan Brownrigg, a fantastic lead guitarist or to Michael Holcroft from Upholland Studios I know they will listen to the direction I want to go and come up with some options. We then put our heads together and shape the sound. I haven't got the money to strive for perfection but generally I am happy enough with the finished tracks.
